So you think you need a web site?
Have you checked into the cost? Are you
committed to keeping it current and accurate?
All important things to consider when proposing an
internet presence.
I have
been educating myself with web design for our ranch
web site for almost 10 years. We have been very
successful in marketing livestock over the internet.
By reaching more potential buyers and customers.
The cost effectiveness of web advertising and shopping
on line has taken this country to new marketing
dimensions. We incorporated video clips on our web
site for our donors and sires. Our site
A. W. Thorne Land and Cattle,
Inc. has
been consistent in the search engines and I believe it
is primarily due to persistent updating and new
information we upload almost daily. That
crazy Diary called
"The Adventures of Dear Abbie's Wife"
doesn't hurt either! The more word base you have
the more chance a search engine will find you.
If you upload a web site one time and never update or
change text or pictures you might as well enlist a one
time add in a magazine for $500-$1000, or save your
money. The past 10 years I have assisted family
and friends with web sites. Giving them the
opportunity to reach more potential buyers.
It has opened doors and windows for them that were
closed to the ordinary farm and ranch a few years ago.
We all used to depend on Livestock Auctions, Order
Buyers, and Sales Consultants to market our cattle.
If you have a special breed, small business or belong
to a small organization you can't afford not to
maintain a web site.
After some thought and encouragement from
friends, I believe I am finally ready to
offer my services to more needy folks that
need effective advertising for their
operations. They have encouraged me to
hang up my internet shingle to reach more
prospective clients. I would prefer to
deal with agricultural related sites as that
is my special marketing expertise.
They are also the kind of folks that I am
used to dealing with and they are also the
people that need web site presence the
worst. USA Agriculture is a real
minority these days and we need all the
exposure we can get to compete in the world
market. More and more folks shop via
internet and make business decisions using
the world wide web.
"A web
site is the most cost effective way to
advertise your commodity to the largest
viewing audience."
