2007-2008 6th Annual American Maine Anjou Association National Feeding Trial

  • Five Thorne Ranch steers at the AMAA Feeding Trail gained an average of 4.158 pounds in the first test weight taken 104 days on feed!

  • One steer  T7159 sired by Cowan's Ali and out of a TLC Angus cow gained an average of 4.654 pounds a day!

  • Three steers are sired by Cowan's Ali and two from HAA Contender.  Dams are 2 Fullbood Braunvieh cows, one Angus cow and 1 Half Angus/Braunvieh cow so we should collect some good data from this contest.

  • They averaged 652.8 on arrival in Oct 2007

  • They gained 143.6 pounds before going on contest Dec 5, 2007.

  • Ultrasound weight 3/19/08 they averaged 1228.8 pounds

Worlds Largest Youth Livestock Show held in Oklahoma City, OK

March 10-20, 2008

 

 

Rashele and TLC Linda's Lulu 3rd Over All in Commercial Heifer OYE Show

  • TLC Linda's Lulu shown by Rashele Blakley selected 3rd Place over all of 180 head of Commercial Heifers in the show.  She was 2nd in her Class.

  • TRI Kara shown by Kylie Haney placed 6th in Class of 15 head of Commercial heifers.

  • TLC Graclie shown by Kylie Haney placed 6th in her class of 15 heifers.

  • TLCC Adrianna shown by Cody Duncan placed 2nd in Class in the Maine Anjou breed Division.. and ended up 4th over all.   Great job Cody!

TLC CATTLE DID VERY WELL IN 2008 HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW

We didn't get to make the show due to new calves being born and needing attention in the bad weather but our partners Diamond in the Rough Cattle Co and Flying I Ranch did well without our help!

Thorne Ranch Traveled to South Texas in March for the Rio Grande Livestock Show held in Mercedes Texas.

We had a great time, saw some really good cattle and met some really nice people!

TLC Redbud (Sire: TLC Bud) and Crystal show to Reserve Grand Champion Beef Builder Braunvieh at Will Roger's Classis Livestock Show on February 23, 2008.

  TLC Linda's Lulu was Grand Champion Beef Builder in both rings.

TLC Kara also stood second in the Commercial class of 8 heifers behind the Grand Champion Heifer.

TLC Bart wins 3rd Overall at 2008 Dixie National Junior Round Up Livestock Show in Jackson MS.  

TLC Bart was owned and shown by Aerial Taylor and Lexi Overby of Morton Mississippi.  Congratulations Lexi on your $5,000 scholarship for Best Hair in the Fitting Contest.

Bart was third in class of 15 steers behind the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Steers in the Light Heavy Weight Division that won the show!  He weighed in at 1340#

TLC Titan and Bryce Overby had bad luck when Titan injured his front shoulder unloading so he didn't get in the final drive!  We commend him and his family for the fine job of feeding and fitting.

Final Heifer Drive Fullblood/Purebred Division.  The Third heifer to the left shown by Marilyn won the show.  She goes back to our bull Silverwood Dragon. She was owned by our Executive Director Mark Nelson of Hastings NE.

Bryce Overby and TLC Titan sired by DJ High Definition and out of TLC Heartbeat was Champion Class Winner at his Smith County Junior Livestock Show in Mississippi.  Congratulations Bryce and Overby family!  Lexi Overby also had the Reserve grand champion which was county bred champion.  Below is Lexi's heifer TLC Evelyn sired by Cowan's Ali and out of TLC Evie.  They are very pleased with her!
